Themes:The Home, Spring, The Farm, Modes of Transportation, Summer
Oral Language:Repetition and usage of theme related vocabulary. Usage of short phrases/expressions related to the class and its activities
Written Language: Establishing a relationship between oral and written language (usage and understanding of pictograms, symbol images in the weekly calendar, weather cards, responsibility charts etc.). Recognition of first name and the first name of some of the other children in the class
Pre-Math: Numbers to 6. Comparing, matching, grouping, and sequencing. Algorithms with 2 objects. Spatial relationships between/among objects: in, on, under, around, etc.
Pre-Writing: Concentric lines. Bridges and crosses. Writing of first name in capitals.
Art: Creating a background. Modeling with playdough/fimo. Sculpture - houses/modes of transportation. Using a variety of materials and techniques taught throughout the year to create individual works of art.
Science: Observation - the transformations of nature, animals and their habitat/nutrition. Notions of heavy and light, fast and slow, what floats/sinks. Spatial awareness: in the air, in the water, on the ground. Simple constructions.
Social: Awareness of time: the beginning/middle/end of the day, today and tomorrow, the seasons. Friendship, sharing and responsibilities.
Library:Read books on structure. Talk about the parts of a story: beginning, middle and end. Reading books with math concepts.
Music:singing games, music and movement
Physical Education:Manipulationactivities(variousequipment). Cooperation/oppositionactivities. Locomotionactivities(onbicycles,plasmacars...)

Oral Language: Students will gain an understanding of theme related vocabulary and an ability to repeat this vocabulary as well as frequently used phrases related to the themes and to the class and its routines.
Pre-Math: Students will learn to recognize their numbers up to 3 and gain an understanding of the quantities they represent. Work with the geometric forms of the circle and triangle; work on making pairs and sorting and organizing objects in terms of their size.
Pre-Writing: work on holding the writing tools properly and on tracing circles and lines
Art: creation of collages and decoupages, as well as painting and drawings, work on coloring and painting in a defined area, exploring faces, figures, as well as decorative patterns.
Social: We will continue to work on and reinforce class routine, as well as on playing and sharing with peers.
Special focus will be placed on the students developing good hygiene and on gaining greater independence in caring for themselves and their things (ie carrying and packing/unpacking their bags, dressing and undressing, etc.)
Library: Discovering that reading is “fun” by reading different fiction books We are learning about what “Good readers do..” ex. Asking questions before and during the reading. Learning to read the pictures
Music: Community building through singing games and rhymes. Non-pitched percussion instruments continue to be introduced. Movement – various locomotor skills to music
Physical Education: co-operative games, traditional games, locomotion skills.
